10 reasons to work out AT HOME!

Hi everyone! As you might already know, I’m a home-workout-girl! I train 5 or 6 days a week, in my bedroom! You’re wondering why I don’t have a gym-membership? I’ll give you 10 reasons why I choose to work out at home.

1) Save MONEY!

Mr. Boyfriend and I have invested in our own squat rack with an olympic bar, weights, a bench, … It’s like buying a house instead of renting it, it might be expensive at first but it’s yours and you don’t have to spend your money on a gym membership anymore.

2) No waiting-line

You don’t have to wait your turn! The squat-rack is always available at home.

3) No need to re-rack your weights

You can leave everything where you want, no need to re-rack your weights, just leave them for the next training! No one will look at you mad or irritated, you can do whatever you want.

4) Comfy outfits

I wear whatever I like. If I feel like working out in my underwear or pyjamas? No problem, no one is watching! But honestly, most of the time I wear shorts with a sportsbra. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t feel comfortable in a gym in that outfit. I’d constantly worry if someone is looking, if my clothes are still in the proper position, …

5) No worries about any funny moves

Do you know some funny moves to burn calories? For example the ‘bear crawl‘, I can’t see myself doing that in a gym. Or if I have some dance-cardio to do, I can act as crazy as I want!

6) No excuses!

No excuses if you can work out at home! Don’t have time? You’re saving time by not driving to the gym, so get started!

7) Motivational music

Choose your own music to work out on. For me, music is a real motivational kickstarter. I know you can use your iPod in the gym for music but you know the struggle with headsets. I prefer real loud music from my boombox!

8) No competition

There’s no need to be jealous at someone who’s running faster, lifting more weight, … The only competition is YOU!

9) Pick a date & time

You do not have to worry about opening hours or holidays. At home, you can work out at any day, at any time. Feel like squatting at midnight? Go for it, no problem at all! Make sure you get a good night’s sleep though. 🙂

10) No distraction

There are other people in a gym and people like to chat. So there’s a chance you’ll get distracted and chat more than you’re working out. That’s not the case at home, time to focus!

Obviously there are downsides to working out at home as well but I decided to list up the advantages. Some disadvantages I see in working out at home are: not having a workout-buddy, no pressure to do well because somebody might be watching you, no rise in self-confidence if you dare to work out in a sports bra, … 😛
